E3 2008

Ghostbusters : The Video Game - Looks awesome...to a guy like me anyway. It has online Co-Op! Oh , and the Wii version is looking sharp and reminds me of a new version of The Real Ghostbusters.

Resident Evil 5 - Co-Op? Yes please! Hordes of NOT Zombies? Yes please! My 360 will be happy...oh yes.

Too Human - Played the demo! Could be worse than E.T. for the Atari 2600... I don't know since I've never played it, but somehow I think it's a close tie. Whew, Ben and I about threw up from the awfulness.

This is a Jailbreak...

Every so often a album will just fall into your lap and every time you click play on your iPod the dark clouds that float so low over your head will just disappear. The Envy Corps Dwell is one of those albums. I first heard this band in the film Run Fat boy Run, the song Story Problem is on the soundtrack and is just a killer song. The arrangement, the dynamics, the lyrics and strong vocal work, the great guitar riffs... this song just sucked me in. After days of hunting a found a terrible CD-Rip on someones blog, the mp3s were super low quality, but I really fell in love with the album. Today I am proud to say I bought the album via Amazon.com (better bitrate than iTunes) and have fallen in love with this album all over again.

If you like Indie Rock, clever song writing, and just good music you need to check these guys out. They have a myspace, lastfm, all that stuff. Do it, because Zach says you should.

July 4th and some big ideas...

So my little July 4th was a success I'd say. Big thanks to Mom, Hannah, Ben, Cameron, Mike, Amelia, John, Cassie, Chad, Rebekah, Keith, and Karrissa for helping out and coming out to celebrate. I am going to try to start having little get together/parties a little more often. In case you missed it, here is us enjoying rock band in all it's glory.

Rock....

As far as big ideas, I've been thinking about school and what I'd like to do with my life. I may move back to Murfreesboro, go to MTSU and get a graphics design degree. Whatever it is I start next, I'm going to finish. School is coming up in about a month, so decisions need to be made fast if I decide to go. There are some other factors that's affecting my decision, and I'm waiting on those too. These other things may make me wait till spring to go back, giving me more time to think and it would really help the Christmas co. if I was here during the fall. It's just something I'm thinking about. I know it would suck to move away from all my friends, but I do need to do what is going to make me happy...and anyone that knows me, knows how much I miss and love the 'boro. Nothing is final, it's just something I'm really considering.

Music is funny...

Sometimes a album, a song, a line of lyrics, or a guitar riff can make you feel like a whole different person.

Minus the Bear - They Make Beer Commercials Like This
That is one of those albums full of all those things...

How to waste a weekend...

So Mary and I didn't end up going to Nashville, her Uncle had a heart attack and was rushed to the hospital for surgery and her Mom wanted her to go with her to visit and stuff. So, I can sympathize but it sucks that our plans get screwed up so often. So I picked up Metal Gear Solid 4 for my PS3, got it around 1 or so on Saturday and had it beat by 7 pm sunday. It's a great game and I will definitely play through it again. I beat it in 17ish hours, so that's how you waste a weekend.

A little about the game...

The cutscenes were long but very well done so I forgive them, the graphics blew me away (the opening cinematic transitions right into gameplay...)the gameplay engine and the cinematic engine are the same...and incredible. You aren't limited to just sneaking, though near the end of the game you really just have too or you'll wind up hearing, "Snake? SNAKE?! SNAAAAAAAAAAAAKKKKEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!" a lot. I played it on the normal difficulty and it really wasn't all that hard since you can now buy guns and ammo at pretty much any point in the game from the pause menu. The game explains it and I GUESS it makes since how you can buy bullets and grenades whenever, but you can't buy anything for your health so I guess that makes up for it.

All in all I had a great time with MGS4, the story was the easiest to follow out of the ones i've played (MGS, MGS2) and EVERYTHING was explained in a simple easy to follow way.

I miss you sleep...

I have been going to be rather early lately, usually hitting the hay around 11 or so but these past few days I have been waking up at like 5 and 6 in the morning. Now, I don't mind waking up like that during the week because I can just go to work a little early...but come on! Saturday morning at 6 isn't much fun. I guess I just haven't been sleeping well, I've had a lot on my mind and when I'm stressed I can't just sleep it off.

I'm heading to Nashville today, hopefully getting out of town will help clear my mind.

Starting over...

Most of my close friends know that Mary and I have seperated, and while being I struggle every day trying to do what I think is right this is still the hardest thing I've ever had to go through. My life hasn't been some big cake walk, and while I put up a good front I struggle everyday to make it to the next. It's not easy losing the person you care most about in your life, and while we are still close friends (and hopefully will remain close) it will never be the same...of course, I never expect it to be back to the way things were.

While I will never quit loving Mary and no one could ever fill in exactly the space that she left in my heart, I am excited about going back to school and hopefully meeting new people. A new major, a new haircut, and a new outlook on the world. I am not the same person I was 3 months ago, and won't be the same person tomorrow as I am today. I just want to pick up the pieces of what's left and start over.

Also, may be going to Las Vegas week after next. I just need to get away, I guess that's about as far as I can get for under a grand. If anyone wants to go, let me know and you can tag along.

Thanks to everyone that has helped me through this hard time. Ben, you're my best friend, always have been...always will be. Gale, Mike, John Boots, Chet, Kent, Bill, Kara
